How would you like to give out scented soaps as Christmas presents? Here’s great news, you can now do that with the soap kits and supplies that abound in the market today. It is easy to get cubes of glycerin soaps from crafts shops. By doing so, you can avoid inhaling lye by skipping the process of making scented soaps from scratch.

Now let’s start to get to work.

1. Cut the glycerin cubes into small cubes to make the melting process faster. Melt the glycerin using a double boiler. You can also use the microwave to melt the glycerin cubes for about 45 seconds.
2. Once melted, let the glycerin cool down a bit.
3. Once the glycerin has cooled down to about 120F, you may now add your choice of fragrance. You can use various types of essential oils. To make the scented soap, you can add a few drops until your desired scent comes out. If you want to add colorant, you should do so after adding the fragrance. It is important to note that adding the fragrance after the colorant will alter the color, so it is wise to define the scent first.
4. Use a flexible plastic mold and let stand for at least 40 minutes. Remove the mold once the soap has set. You now ready to wrap them to make a great gift.

There are actually a lot of scents to choose from for your scented soaps. You can use vanilla, rose, lavender, apple, cedar, honey, orange, citrus, black forest, sandalwood, plum, spice, coconut, peppermint or eucalyptus. These are just a few scents to consider when making your own scented soaps. When you are choosing a scent, you have to take into consideration where, when, what for or who would use the soap.

Now what are you waiting for? Get up there and start making scented soaps. Who knows you can even start a business out of it.
